Honor Roll Guidelines

The Huguenot Society of the Founders of Manakin maintains a Roll of Honor at the Society’s headquarters. The Roll of Honor recognizes those men and women who have honorably served their country during times of conflict. Those conflicts, beginning with the French and Indian War up to and including the Afghanistan and Iraq invasions, are listed below. In addition, all Huguenot Americans of distinction and/or historical significance are eligible for enrollment. However, they must be nominated by a Manakin Society member and their distinction or significance supported in the nomination.

All other individuals nominated for inclusion should be a Manakin Society member or related to a member, either as an ancestor or descendant. The Manakin membership number, whenever awarded, shall be the basis of inclusion. Collateral relationships, such as an uncle, etc., are appropriate for submission and are encouraged. It is not necessary that individuals must have worn a uniform for proof of eligibility. Those persons who can be shown to have contributed in a meaningful way to the defense of our country during a time of conflict are eligible.

An example of a Nomination is shown on the link to Honor Roll Application. All Nominations should be submitted to Richard D. "Rick" Hollis, National Third Vice President, at hollis1812@gmail.com or mailed to him at: P. O. Box H Charlotte, TN 37036-0478.

Individuals submitting applications for membership in the Manakin Society are encouraged to submit candidates for the Roll of Honor at the same time.

A hard bound book, currently located at headquarters, lists Society members who participated in World War II.  At some future time, a suitable way to display the Roll of Honor, past and present, will be determined.
